The Abcs Of Booking Cheap Airline Tickets Online

Barry Allen asked:

Travel has changed and fierce competition among airline carriers has ensured that the savvy customer benefits. Unlike earlier tickets on a flight are not sold at a fixed rate. Most airlines have an elaborate grading system in place. For example:

o In Y class the airline may choose to sell say 10 of tickets at USD 100 each.

o In X class they may allocate 50 seats at USD 110.

o In S class they may want to sell 75 seats at USD150 each.

o In C class the airline may choose to sell say 5 tickets at USD 300.

So at any given time when you try and buy tickets you would come up with different rates depending on the number of tickets you wish to buy. As a traveler you need to log on to websites that sell discounted or cheap airline tickets at different times of the day or night and check whether you strike gold.

Here are a few tips that may help you get the cheapest airline tickets:

1. Get familiar with the workings of major plane ticket search engines and web directories. Examples are Expedia, Hotwire, and 1888airlinetickets.com . Most tend to release new discount tickets quotas on Wednesdays. So the best time to buy the cheapest tickets would be Wednesday night from midnight to around 5 am.

2. If you are planning a trip for the whole family then aim for off season travel. Ticket prices are lowest just before and after major holidays and in fall. According to experts the best time slots would be say mid-January to end February, April through May, and mid-September to mid-December.

3. Try not to buy tickets last minute the prices are the highest from 14 days before departure date. So either book around 21 days in advance or take a chance that a plane may be empty and book just before departure. Many airlines give away unsold tickets at bargain prices around half hour before departure.

4. In case you just have to travel during holidays. Choose the day itself and not the day before. Experts have found that planes go empty on Xmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving days while they are chock-a-block the day before and after.

5. To get the most benefits you must comparison shop. Log on to several travel sites and compare prices for the sector you want to fly on.

The airlines and travel websites offer greater discounts for tickets booked online because it saves them overhead costs. One-way tickets are more expensive than two way so, book a round trip and reap the many benefits. Similarly tickets are much cheaper mid-week than weekends.

Try and collect loyalty reward points by flying the same airline each time. That way you will benefit more and you can also choose to club credit card reward points with flying miles. If you are traveling constantly then sign up for email notifications of discounts, promotions, and change in prices.

Traveling by plane now has so many aspects that a traveler needs to keep abreast with changes in the system and new innovations. The World Wide Web has changed air travel by offering so many conveniences online.

Locating the Cheapest Airline Tickets

Marcus Bradley asked:

With summer approaching many families are eager to start looking for the best places to find airfare; to destinations like Florida, Caribbean, Mexico, and other places to catch fun in the sun.

The internet provides numerous resources in locating discounted airfare. But website to locate discount airline tickets is Travel By Deals. TravelByDeals.com publishes internet travel specials for airline tickets, cruises, hotels, vacations, and rental cars.

As the price of airline tickets has increased with the cost of fuel, airline bankruptcies, consolidations and airline closings, the market has decreased and fares are higher. The top airlines to find the lowest price on airline tickets are all low-fare carriers who are now setting the bar for traditional airlines to follow.

Spirit Airlines – Spirit Airlines may be a small airline with a hub in Fort Lauderdale, FL. But they fly to a lot of destinations in the Caribbean, and Mexico. With an impressive streak of deals, Spirit always impresses consumers with flights as low as $9, which often occurs bi-monthly. On a weekly basis you should be able to find fares from Spirit as low as $29 if you catch their “Syber Specials”

Airtran Airways – With most of the United States covered, Airtran can get you where you need to go. Visit travel sites weekly and your likely to see their discounted $44 specials. They do not service markets outside the United States except for Grand Bahama Island, but if Florida, New York, Vegas, or California is your destination you should consider Airtran Airways.

And the last airline to top the list in finding discount airline tickets is Jetblue Airways – Customer service and low fares all wrapped up in a blue and white plane, Jetblue has wonderful discounted fares. Jetblue not only has discounted fares, but offers FREE in-flight entertainment (Direct TV Satellite Monitors) at every seat. Jetblue serves a lot of destinations like the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. This fairly new discount carrier always has fares from $49 and they also cover a lot Northern America.

Airline Tickets – Where to Find the Cheapest Rates on the Internet

Timothy S Wright asked:

Finding the most affordable airline tickets is actually quite challenging. The rise and fall of airline ticket costs is very unpredictable. Timing is everything, yet other factors such as the source of your tickets, the season of your flight, the demand of your destination, among other things, also comes into play. Getting the best airfare can be a frustrating experience when at the back of your mind, there is a huge possibility that some people who you share the flight with actually just paid half, or worse, a quarter of what you thought was your “bargain” find.

To make sure that you get the best deal in airline tickets, you need to have an idea of how airlines set prices. This complex procedure of fare pricing boils down to three factors: inventory, demand, and competition. The inventory, or number of seats available in all flights in all airlines, are fed into four reservation systems, namely WorldSpan, Galileo, Apollo, and Sabre. As in the fundamental economic principle of supply and demand, if one flight has a lot of takers, then the price goes up, while if a flight is not selling well, the price goes down to entice people to buy available seats. The thing is, the four reservation systems are not updated at the same time, thus seats fed into one system may have gone very high because of demand, while the seats fed to the other system might still be low because no one has yet taken advantage of them. To beat this system, certain “tricks” can be done:

o Having flexible dates allows you to check the most credible lowest fare, as you have set the price, and not the date as the most important factor.

o Searching as early as possible will allow you to get majority of the deals. At the same time, take note that last minute fares can also be the most affordable.

o Red eye flights and flights with numerous stopovers will definitely cost less than “primetime” non-stop flights. Demand for these flights is low and therefore, prices are, too.

o Flights that land or depart from main airports are actually more costly than flights that depart or arrive in minor neighboring airports. Chances are, flights departing from or arriving in New York’s La Guardia Airport is a bit more costly than flights departing from or arriving in the airport in Newark, New Jersey, which is quite near, considering you might get stuck in traffic leaving or getting to La Guardia.

o Remember that discounted fares usually carry a lot of restrictions, too.

Best Airlines For Pets

Candis Reade asked:

There are a variety of airlines that accept pets either in the cargo or even in the cabin so we are going to consider here which of those airlines are the best airlines for pets. Remember, pets include birds, rabbits, kittens, hamsters, or guinea pigs, but these pets do have additional restrictions.

United Airlines — The United Airlines pet policy is that they do allow pets in the baggage and cargo areas as well as in the cabin. Some short-nosed breeds of dogs are not allowed as checked baggage or as cargo during the summer months which are from June 1 through September 30. The breeds referred to are Shih Tzu, Boston Terrier, English Bull dog, French Bull dog, Lhasa Apso, Boxer, King Charles Spaniel, Pug, etc. Heat is a factor here. This does not affect the transportation of pets in the cabin. So United Airlines can definitely be considered one of the best airlines for pets.

Northwest Airlines — The Northwest Airline pet policy is that they are accepted in the cabin on all U. S. flights except to Hawaii. They are accepted in some international flights but the airline must be contacted regarding this. Pets are also allowed in the checked baggage and cargo compartments. Northwest airlines boasts to be the industry leader for pet transportation in a safe and efficient manner. So the three options that Northwest Airlines offers for pet transportation are — Cargo Shipments (with passenger or traveling alone); Carry-on pets; pets traveling with checked luggage. Northwest Airlines is one of the best airlines for pets.

Delta Airlines — Delta Airline pet policy is that they accept pets in the cabin, in the checked baggage, and in the cargo compartment. There are restrictions as to what type of pet is allowed in the cabin. They are dogs, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, and cats. The animals that are prohibited include mice/rats, sugar gliders, spiders, pot-bellied pigs, frogs, or reptiles. Delta Airlines boasts safety and comfort for the pet but do have some guidelines for the size, etc of the pets. The pet(s) must fit in a carry-on kennel that fits under the seat in front or the seat the passenger is sitting on. The pet will not be able to travel in the cabin if the flight is going to Hawaii. Lastly the pet must be at least 8 weeks old.

American Airlines — The American Airlines pet policy is that pets are accepted in the cabin and as checked baggage. No more that 7 pets can be booked on one flight in the cabin so it is important to advise the airline ahead of time of the transport of a pet. However, checked pets do not need a reservation. Cats and dogs are the limit of pets that are permitted on the American Airlines.

The best airlines for pets are the four listed above determined by the breath of the policy for the transported pets such as in the cabin, cargo, or checked baggage.

How to Absolutely Find the Cheapest Plane Tickets

Jessie Penn asked:

Do you think the best way to get the cheapest plane tickets is by calling the airline?  Or, do you scan through hundreds of websites provided by search engines to find low airfare tickets?  Maybe you hope to find cheap airfare in the local newspaper’s travel section.

Finding cheap airline tickets can be one of the most frustrating experiences that most of us learn very quickly. Of course, most people eventually give up after spending hours scanning websites that offer virtually the same flight schedules and pricing. People purchase what they believe is the cheapest plane ticket, only to find their neighbor paid just a third of what they did!

Unless you understand the concept of of how airlines set prices, all the searching in the world won’t provide the cheapest airline ticket prices. The following information will give you a guide to follow, as you wander through the maze searching for cheap airfare.

Understand how prices are set by airlines! Ticket pricing is complex and unpredictable, and driven by competition, demand, and inventory. Airlines call this “yield management.”

Competition is the beast behind the cheapest plane tickets. All major airlines utilize central reservation systems (owned by various airlines) to fill available seats. The systems are known as Apollo, Sabre, Worldspan and Galileo. Prices are based on demand, and if some flights are selling well, the price will increase. If the flight is unpopular and has very little demand, the fare is lowered in hope of attracting consumers. In short, fares and inventory change every minute of every day!

Finding the cheapest plane tickets is difficult because travel agents and Internet websites use the central reservation systems that are updated periodically throughout the day. The reason why different searches come up with different results is because the systems are not updated at the same times. And, each system may use different algorithms when searching for low airfare tickets, which can provide a variety of ticket prices.

Demand drives fare prices up or down, and explains why it’s usually cheaper to fly on weekdays, late nights, or non-holidays. Ticket pricing is based on competition. And, to complicate matters if one airline drops rates by 20 percent, most airlines will drop their rates as well. This eliminates a discounter’s (cheap airfare) competitive edge.

Differences in fares can exist for identical routes on different airlines because one airline might dominate the market share for that destination, thus cheap airfare tickets are not needed to entice passengers. And, all this happens at the speed of light! Prices can change while your credit card information is being provided, and what you thought was the cheapest plane ticket, suddenly isn’t so cheap.

Inventory is another advantage used by airlines to entice potential fliers. Airlines designate seats into price ranges on flights to offer cheap airfare. Of course, people hoping to secure the cheapest plane tickets are attracted to these advertisements. But, most often, by the time you place the call to the airline, the seats are gone.

Inventory relates to demand, and if the availability is low but demand high, the wait for the cheapest plane tickets can be lengthy.  But, this does not mean you will not be successful in finding low airfare tickets.  Sometimes, airlines change fares or designate additional seats, depending on ticket sales.

These three factors (competition, inventory and demand) are essential when looking for the cheapest plane tickets.  Before booking tickets for your next trip, take the time to do some comparison shopping.  Cheap airfare tickets are out there for the taking, and can be found.

Inexpensive Airplane Tickets – 3 Steps to Getting the Best Deals on Airline Travel Anywhere!

John Tellano asked:

Inexpensive airplane tickets can be hard to come by, even though many of the sites that you see on TV and all over the internet claim they can get you the lowest prices possible. However, I am sure that you have heard of or know people who travel all around the world for very low prices and I bet you are wondering how do they do that? Here I am going to show you 3 things you can do to get the best deals on airline travel.

1. The first thing that you want to consider is to take a flight that leaves or arrives at an odd time. This is going to really increase your chances of getting inexpensive airline tickets because the demand for these tickets is much less. You are then in a position to talk with the airlines and get them to lower the prices.

2. Secondly you can always contact the airlines to get the best deals. It is amazing that more people do not think to do this, but it really does work if you do it right. The key is to call the hotline at the right time in order to get the best deals. Often times the airlines update the systems at midnight and will have deals on there that are not even advertised. This is a great way to get cheap plane tickets to any destination.

3. The third thing that you can do is to make sure that you know someone in the business. This is by far the best method for getting inexpensive plane tickets. Whether it is a former employee or a current one, these people know how to get you deals, and simply put you will not believe some of the prices that you can get with these little known methods.

Cheapest Rates For Airline Travel – Fly Anywhere For a Huge Discount!

Matthew Lord asked:

One of the biggest problems with airline travel is that the prices can be crazy! Trust my I know this first hand, and today I want to share with you some tips that you can use in order to get better deals and get the cheapest rates for airline travel. I am going to share with you a few different and unique strategies that you can use in order to fly for less and save money in these hard times.

1. First and foremost you can save money on travel if you are willing to fly at times that others are not. These red eye flights as they are often called can save you a lot of money, because many people that are traveling for business or pleasure do not want to travel at times that are an inconvenience for them. If you are willing to put up with a little more than most you can really get some better deals.

2. The cheapest rates for airline travel can also be found if you call just after midnight to get the latest updates. Often times the new prices will come in late and airline companies will update ticket prices. Many people do not think to go to the airlines themselves, but it can be a great way to save money on flying.

If you will do these two things then I can assure you that you will be able to fly for cheap and have the potential to save a lot of money. The cheapest rates for airline travel can be found, you just have to know where to look!
