   My experience has been that prices do not go down at christmas for airline tickets. I would suggest buying them now, most likely the price will go up if you wait. A good website to compare airline prices is:

   Hahaha…they go up as the dates get closer. I always buy as early as possible, often over 6 months before.

   I would buy them a few months before, because as the date gets closer the price of tickets go up.

   I would buy when you can find a good deal because once it gets close to christmas prices always go up.Plus a lot depends were you are going to.
