There is no such thing as cheap airline tickets anymore.
Sorry.

I get good prices from either Expedia.com or go direct to Southwest.com.
The last 4 times I have flown, I booked through Expedia because they had the best price.
I had a different ie window open for each airline and one for expedia and I was able to look at each… And Expedia beat them all.
This last time, I booked a flight for my Grandma and it was only $300.00 or so for a round trip from Arizona to Illinois with under a month’s notice.
They ROCK!

I usually start looking for airline tickets through
Try going into
You can check a whole lot of different companies that way.
The fares can vary so much so it’s great to be able to check all the different ones through one website.
Good luck

I do not agree that expedia is the cheapest airfare site out there. They may be one of the most well known, but I think that both hotwire.com and priceline are consistently cheaper than expedia. Also, I would never solely go to one site for airfare. There are so many websites out there and so often you will find a gem on one site, while the other sites have the same, or a similar flight listed for much higher. I would recommend starting at some of the multi-website search pages, such as igougo.com, bookingbuddy.com, or travelzoo.com. Those are great ways to compare airfare, but do not search ALL of the websites, just, for the most part, the ones people are most familiar with. Rightflight.org has done a bit of research on which airfare sites ring up as the cheapest, both domestically and internationally. Granted they didn’t do research on every flight from every city, but for what they did do, priceline and hotwire were the cheapest (with expedia being cheapest once if my memory serves me right). Also, it doesn’t work all the time, or even a majority of the time for that matter, but try adding a car rental in with your ticket. Even if you don’t think you’d use the car much, you’d be surprised that sometimes you can actually fly for much less and have basically a free rental. I was looking at a ticket a few weeks back (not sure where to) that was originally $900, but dropped to $462 with the addition of a car rental. Again, this is not ordinary and I would not expect to see this often, but it’s possible. Also, try priceline’s ’set your price’ feature. I don’t know anybody that has actually used that, but who knows, it could save you some cash. I think you agree to buy the ticket no matter what if you submit an offer though. At any rate, I hope my long ramblings have been of some help to you. Best of luck.
