Should I ask for a return on airline tickets?

butterflygirl531 asked:

I bought some airline tickets and I wasn’t happy with the departing time at 8:50 am but its all I had to choose. Just recently I looked and saw they have a later option for 4 pm. I leave in 10 days and returns take up to 7 days. Should I ask for a return and book with the 4 pm departure time or just see if I can just change the departure time instead of getting new tickets?
I am flying with Express Jet Airlines.

Just call the airline and ask if they can switch it, most airlines are great about it especially United.

You will probably have to pay a change fee (even if you opt to fly stand by); if you opt to go for a refund and get a fresh ticket issued, you will be charged a cancellation fee.. Just call the airline to confirm.

Call the 1-800 number and just ask to change the time from 8:50 to 4 P.M. They will be able to do it only if they have room on the flight. Also there is a fee to change the time. The prices to change the flight differ from airline to airline, but are usually anywhere from $25-$150.

Contact the airline or the traveling agency who you booked your flight through. Usually they can change it for a fee.
